LAHORE: Mustafa Kanju, the son of former state minister for foreign affairs Siddique Kanju, late on Wednesday gunned down a 15-year-old boy after a minor road accident, said police.
According to police officials, Kanju also wounded a passerby when he and his three guards opened fire following a minor road accident involving his vehicle and a motorcycle here at Cavalry Ground in Lahore Cantt.
The slain youth is identified as Zain, who according to police was a student of class 9 while the injured is recognised as Zain’s friend Hasnain.
Police have arrested three guards accompanying Kanju and ceased the vehicle after reaching at the site immediately after the incident. The owner of the vehicle, however, managed to flee from the scene.
It was revealed later during the interrogation that the absconder is the son of former state minister for foreign affairs Siddique Kanju. Police have lodged an FIR against the suspect and launched a search operation to arrest the absconder.
Meanwhile, mother of the slain teenager has appealed to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and the chief justice of Pakistan for the swift deliverance of justice.
